About the role
This role provides effective, efficient and professional interpreting (and related) services to MNH patients and carers who are not proficient in English or who are hearing impaired
About you
This successful applicant will carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- This position requires sophisticated sensitivity to, knowledge and understanding of issues impacting people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds seeking access to safe, high quality and compassionate healthcare services.
- Provide effective and confidential interpreting services across Metro North Health service staff and patients, consumers, and clients.
- Provide a superior linguistic support role within Metro North Health for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse clients relevant to languages the role is accredited to interpret.
- Maintain accurate records and accurately complete data entry into relevant systems.
- Effective time management, with the ability to balance priorities and work on multiple tasks, getting work done in an effective and efficient manner, and communicating if there are circumstances that will impact on deadlines
- Communicate with families and visitors to provide general advice on hospital visit, and assist with completion of relevant forms, and other duties as required.
- Demonstrated Information Technology skills, for use in the delivery of interpreting services.
