Your specific journey in Visitor Management within the Northern Region allows you to offer your technical expertise to operational field rangers and play a supervisory role in the day-to-day management of your team. Paramount to this role is your ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both writing and speech, as you are responsible for crafting and relaying vital information to visitors who explore and enjoy the Northern Region's protected spaces.
Focusing on sustainable and secure recreational experiences, you'll manage visitor impacts on park values with careful consideration. Your role involves active communication and collaboration with various teams, from Rangers in Charge to Traditional Owners and the general public, addressing a range of park-related matters, departmental policies, and relevant legislation.
In your diverse tasks, you will create interpretive materials, including signs, brochures, and digital content, ensuring the Northern Region's natural beauty is described captivatingly and accurately. Emergency response communications also fall under your remit, as you quickly disseminate important information during events like cyclones or wildfires. You'll adeptly navigate internal systems to maintain up-to-date departmental pages and effectively manage park closures, all the while providing consistent information across public platforms.
Day-to-day, your excellent customer service skills will shine through as you tackle enquiries, reliably providing crucial information about the parks. Additionally, you're involved in the broader educational aspect, working on the Northern Region brochure program, liaising with Visitor Information Centres, and coordinating public event participation, such as the Cairns camping and caravan show.
Ultimately, in this role, you seamlessly blend the protection of Queensland's wilderness with the enhancement of public appreciation, ensuring that both nature and visitor experiences are well-managed and respected.
Applications to remain current for 12 months.
