The Education and Training Unit provides professionally delivered, meaningful, Ethics, Values and Discipline System Training to the Queensland Police Service (QPS). Importantly, such training also provides those engaged in implementing the Service's discipline system with the knowledge to ensure the discipline system operates efficiently and effectively.

Amongst many other concepts the Education and Training Unit provides training in how to intervene early to avoid future misconduct as well as how to provide quality proactive ethical leadership.

In order to ensure QPS training helps prevent misconduct and makes the Discipline System efficient and effective the Education and Training Unit applies two key concepts. Firstly, the unit ensures Professionalism Training provided is diverse and geared to various levels, roles and specialisations within the QPS in order to positively influence behaviour and practice. Secondly, the Service's Professionalism Training is immediately applicable to the work environment of those members undertaking the training. 

Your Key Accountabilities:

The core capability requirements for this role are:

  • Conduct needs analysis in conjunction with management to determine training requirements of staff and contribute to the development of strategies to meet these requirements.
  • Develop and deliver training and development programs in accordance with policies, best practices, procedures and in support of improved professional standards.
  • Undertake assessment of staff and prepare reports based on these assessments.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of training policies, best practices, procedures and standards.
  • Undertake the assessment and evaluation of internal training and development programs.
  • Establish and maintain information management and other administrative systems to monitor the training and assessment of staff.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with internal and external clients and stakeholders in order to identify efficiencies, consistency and enhance service delivery outcomes relating to education and training.

Role Requirements:

Qualification

  • There are no mandatory requirements for this role, however, formal qualifications in Assessment and Training (e.g. Certificate IV or higher) or accredited tertiary qualification in adult education would be highly regarded.

Other

  • The position is based in Brisbane City however the member will also be required to frequently work from Oxley and Wacol. Training may be regularly delivered from other various locations throughout the State of Queensland, which will necessitate the need for travel.
