The Research and Intelligence portfolio is a newly established team in the Domestic, Family Violence and Vulnerable Persons Command (DFV&VP Command).
As strategic leaders in the QPS, the DFV&VP Command holds responsibility for ensuring community safety by guiding a whole-of-service response to DFV&VP.

The Research and Intelligence team supports the work of the Command by building and promoting evidence-based approaches and practices, working collaboratively with stakeholders, and leading innovation and continuous improvement.
The scope of research and intelligence work under the DFV&VP Command includes DFV, Mental Health, Police Referrals, White Ribbon, DFV High Risk Teams, Disabilities, and Elder Abuse.

The Core Capability Requirements for this role are:
- Undertake research into external and internal issues affecting the QPS, specifically in relation to High Risk offenders in a DFV environment.
- Assist with the provision of well-researched, soundly based and defensible advice to senior management on issues relating to DFV.
- Assist in the evaluation of QPS programs and initiatives and consult with other areas of the Service on evaluation practices, methods and approaches.
- Monitor and review policing practices, strategies and initiatives at state, national and international levels and assist in the reporting on their efficiency, effectiveness and applicability to the QPS.
- Liaise internally and externally and represent the QPS as required.
