The DESBT regional network provides localised service delivery across the departmental priority areas of employment, small business and training. The effective departmental service delivery is achieved through the regulation of the state’s apprenticeship and traineeship system; strategic training and skills investment strategies; informing consumers about the suite of departmental programs; supporting a quality Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector; and providing whole of government leadership on employment, small business and training issues.

As a Field Officer, your team-based role is focused on supporting a diverse range of clients, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, through the apprenticeship/traineeship system and other employment and training initiatives of the department.
Specifically, you will -
• monitor and support apprentices and trainees, with a focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, through to successful completion of their apprenticeship or traineeship
• contribute to the development and implementation of employment and training initiatives, to maximise participation and successful completion of all clients, with a particular focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, in line with government policies
• assist with the provision of culturally appropriate problem solving and conflict resolution services to stakeholders (employers, apprentices, trainees, parents,guardians, community organisations)
• liaise with community-based organisations, training providers and other organisations on employment and vocational training issues in relation to a diverse range of clients
• represent the department on relevant committees and working groups
• provide advice to senior management on employment and training matters in relation to a diverse range of clients
