Senior IT Support Consultant

The Senior IT Support Consultant works alongside the broader Microsoft Services Team within CITEC. The role provides advanced Windows Server support for on premise servers, some hosting SQL databases. It provides specialist OS support to CITEC’s customers, business partners and internal staff. The team follow better practice and encourage innovation, valuing both in person collaboration and work life balance - the long way of saying they support hybrid working conditions! You will also be required to collaborate with multiple CITEC teams, especially those which manage other layers of the ICT infrastructure stack.

The Gig:
• Provide advanced level Windows Server OS management services to external and internal customers.
• Perform incident analysis and complex problem resolution.
• Undertake advanced OS performance analysis of operational client environments, report and recommend appropriate tuning and infrastructure configurations.
• Maintain an extensive working knowledge of current and emerging Windows Server trends.
• Work collaboratively with your team to manage your workload.
• Have a customer-first attitude and contribute to a harmonious and productive team.
To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
• Technical experience in performing system administration activities in an enterprise environment. Refer to the ‘Technical requirements' below for specific
technologies. An high level of knowledge and experience is expected to be achieved in the role.
• Demonstrate experience in providing effective and quality systems administration, management, and enhancement services to clients with reliability in meeting agreed deadlines and commitments.
• Build and sustain positive relationships with team members, other colleagues and stakeholders and being responsive to customer needs and expectations.
• Partner with Stakeholder Engagement and act as the technical point of contact for customer opportunities and proposals.
• Demonstrate experience operating in accordance with organisational processes and constraints, as well as taking responsibility for accuracy, self-evaluating and seeking feedback and self-development.
• Communicate with influence by clearly, effectively, and proactively communicating with a range of stakeholders in an environment that deals with complex infrastructure architecture and a complex customer base.

Technical requirements:
Knowledge and experience are essential in the below technologies:
• High level of knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server Administration.
• Demonstrated experience managing Windows virtualised servers in an enterprise VMWare environment.
• Experience in Scripting/Automation (PowerShell/VBScript).
• High level of working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems.
• High level working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP
• Demonstrated experience in MECM administrator skills (OS deployments, applications, software updates).
• Experience in Application Control configuration - Windows Defender Application Control preferred.
