Your Key Accountabilities:
The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Provide strategic, operational and technical advice and guidance to both internal and external stakeholders, committees and boards as required.
- Build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders including the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, the Queensland Police Service's Water Police, Marine Rescue Queensland and State Emergency Services.
- Provide ongoing management support on the administration, operation and regulatory compliance requirements of the marine fleet including certification, safety, training, audit and inspection.
- Develop and manage a standardised approach to incident investigation and mitigation implementation across the three operating entities.
- Manage a strategic approach to the development of compliant Safety Management Systems suited to the particular entity and/or specific operations.
- Develop and manage systems that provide the required alignment to the NSCV, ISM Code and Marine Orders. ISO Standards including 9001, 14001, 45001 and 55000 are also a key consideration of the QPS.
- Prepare high level policy papers, submissions, briefs and reports on marine fleet related issues and initiatives.
- Work with the Director in the development and ongoing management of a rolling 10-year fleet plan.
Role Requirements:
Qualification
- Domestic commercial marine industry deck or engineering qualifications at a minimum of Master <24m and/or MED II
Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience
- Extensive experience in the domestic marine industry fleet in either technical or operational roles
Other
- An understanding of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority in the regulation of Domestic Commercial Vessels
