As a Senior Finance Officer operating from within the Natural Resource Programs, you will support the Principal Finance Officer, Natural Resource Programs, to provide financial oversight of the department’s natural resource grant programs, as well as play an essential role in supporting the business activities and improvement of processes of the team. You will also support collaborative practices while and monitoring and evaluating data from external delivery organisations.

In this role you will:
• Provide expert advice and guidance on financial management, compliance policies, and systems to support business objectives and ensure compliance with corporate finance legislation.
• Prepare monthly financial reports, ad hoc reports, budget submissions, and variance analysis, maintaining forecast data and addressing complex budgeting issues.
• Advise on expenditure inquiries, prepare monthly journals, and support ledger integrity.
• Manage and support the implementation of the annual business budget allocation, including FTEs, operating, capital, and limited life funding.
• Collaborate with teams, coach staff, and review systems to improve financial management processes, while maintaining accurate financial transactions in accordance with policies.
This position requires:
• Experience in analysing, interpreting information, and providing strategic advice through reports and papers.
• Experience in preparing, monitoring, and managing complex budgets.
• Skilled in liaising with stakeholders, demonstrating professionalism and strong communication.
• Strong financial expertise, including interpreting and applying relevant legislation, accounting standards, and Treasury reporting requirements.
• current C class driver's licence is desirable/mandatory.
• Travel away from the centre may be required. This may involve travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation for extended periods.
