About Us
Queensland Human Rights Commission (QHRC) is an independent statutory authority with responsibilities under the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 and the Human Rights Act 2019. The Commission provides a range of services to support people in Queensland understand and pursue their rights by providing:
• an expert dispute resolution service for discrimination and human rights complaints
• a statewide enquiry service to help build understanding of rights and responsibilities
• education and training for businesses, organisations, government and the community.
The Commission also actively contributes towards the systemic prevention of discrimination, vilification and sexual harassment. We do this through:
• supporting the development of policy and legislation to better protect rights
• increasing public understanding and discussion of human rights and responsibilities
• providing guidance, undertaking research and conducting reviews to support duty holders to uphold their responsibilities.
As a member of the QHRC team, you will contribute to building an understanding and culture of human rights in Queensland.
Mandatory Requirements
This role undertakes travel locations and requires a current driver's licence and at times work outside of office hours. You will need to provide a copy of your driver's licence prior to engagement.

Additional information
• Applications remain current for a twelve-month period.
• The successful applicant will be required to travel within Queensland and to perform some work outside normal business hours. A minimum probation period of 3 months may apply.
• Applicants are advised that the work in QHRC may expose employees to confronting and disturbing material including distressing and offensive content.
• QHRC has a range of strategies in place to help prevent vicarious trauma and support staff who experience vicarious trauma as a result of their work. However, personal resilience and individual coping strategies are an important factor.
• Applicants should consider the above and their personal resilience and coping strategies to sustain working in confronting and challenging circumstances.
• Any applicant recommended for appointment who is a current or previous public sector employee is required to disclose previous serious disciplinary action taken against them. If recommended for appointment, the Panel Chair will contact the applicant further to discuss this requirement.
