Great Barrier Reef and Marine Parks (GBR&MP) Region are excited to share an incredible opportunity for a Regional Support Officer to join the team on a temporary basis, through to 27 June 2025.

As one of the six regions of the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, the GBR&MP Region delivers conservation and management activities across land and sea including implementing the Reef Joint Field Management Program.

This pivotal role will play a critical part in the strategic management of the Great Barrier Reef and Marine Parks Region (GBR&MP), leading and overseeing a team that delivers essential Business Support services to the region.

You will provide executive-level support to the Regional Director and manage a wide range of high-impact functions, including complex budget and financial oversight, procurement, workforce management, safety and training, facilities, resources, records, and correspondence management. Additionally, you will implement key administrative processes to ensure seamless operations across the region. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive success and shape the future of the GBR&MP.

The ideal candidate will be committed to providing support to a broad audience, engaging with stakeholders, offering assistance, and serving as a reliable and empathetic listener.

Role focus:  

• Provide support and advice to the Regional Director on financial management, including budget preparation, reporting, and cash flow projections.
• Coordinate HR activities, including recruitment, training, WPH&S, and performance reviews, as well as assist with employee discipline and complaints.
• Oversee regional responses to audits, stocktakes, and other corporate governance requirements.
• Lead the coordination of administrative tasks, meetings, reports, and stakeholder engagement while promoting a supportive workplace culture for First Nations people.
• Encourage a positive, inclusive workplace culture where all individuals feel valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.

To be considered you must hold the following qualifications:

• hold an unrestricted automatic or manual driver's license.

There are no mandatory qualifications required to undertake this position, however formal qualifications in Finance or Human Resources would be highly regarded.
