The purpose of this position is to lead and manage the operations of the Building Safety & Standards Enforcement (BSSE) Team. Develop and implement agile and insights-driven implementation strategies to deliver data integrity, governance, compliance enforcement, and stakeholder engagement. The position supports the achievement of the organisations objective to support a strong, safe and sustainable industry through responsive regulatory activity to reduce risk and harm and to educate and inform customers to support continuous quality improvement.

Key Outcomes and Accountabilities    

The aim of this role is to:

  •  Lead and manage the operation of the BSSE Team through developing, implementing and monitoring business plans, KPI's and budgets.
  • Monitor and report on performance of the BSSE Team to ensure objectives are met by identifying and implementing resolutions for significant issues and providing staff with appropriate direction, guidance, training and assistance.
  • Coordinate the interpretation and application of legislation, codes, standards, policies, guidelines and practices related to Part 4A Combustible Cladding of the Building Regulation 2006 (Regulation) and Part 6AA Building Products of the Queensland Building and Construction Commission Act 1991 (QBCC Act) and provide high level written and verbal advice as required.
  • Implement policies and projects relating to the BSSE team
  • Represent the QBCC as at meetings, conferences, forums and committee's relation to BSSE matters when requested by Director or as necessary;
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all QBCC staff and external customers;

Position is located in Brisbane and the successful candidate will need to enter into a Flexible Work Arrangement upon commencement to reflect the office location you are seeking to work from. If working from a regional office, travel to the Brisbane office will be required regularly (frequency to be negotiated with successful candidate) to fulfil operational business needs.
