Lead Developer - Policy and Projects

You will play a critical role in driving innovation and operational excellence at VAQ. You will implement and manage processes to ensure the proactive development, design, continuous improvement, and maintenance of VAQ’s information systems. This includes leading the strategic planning and execution of software development projects, ensuring systems are robust, scalable, and aligned with organizational goals.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, provide technical expertise, and deliver high-quality solutions that enhance productivity and user experience. Additionally, you will oversee system integrations, security protocols, and performance optimization to support seamless operations and future-proof the organization's technology infrastructure.
Your leadership will also extend to mentoring team members and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement frameworks, systems and processes to enable information and performance management through statistical analysis and reporting.
- Identify, develop and manage business and systems projects and improvements through to implementation.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including other departmental business units and the non-government sector, ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of VAQ's information systems.
- Provide systems advice on the impacts of proposed reform on VAQ operations and develop strategies to support implementation.
- Manage, regulate, and report on business and system improvement activities to effectively manage risks and issues to ensure successful outcomes.
- Contribute to VAQ's business unit planning including risk management, auditing and financial reconciliation and managing systems business continuity activities.
- Manage VAQ's information systems resources, policies, processes, systems and training products and ensure systems training is delivered to VAQ staff.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by supervisory and management staff, adhering to professional standards and organisational objectives.
