You will be part of the leadership group of a statewide team operating in a fast paced, challenging and rewarding work environment. State owned land makes up 60% of Queensland, and as a key leader in the Far North Queensland region you will be responsible for leading a team of around 16 members, across multiple locations, assessing and deciding on applications under the Land Act 1994. You will provide strategic advice, develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships, and problem solve and negotiate land tenure solutions for key infrastructure, tourism and mining developments.

About the role:
In this role you will:
• Lead a team to deliver high quality, outcomes focused client services in line with department priorities.
• Work with team leaders and other experts to resolve high priority and complex land dealings which have cross regulatory and departmental implications.
• Exercise delegated authority under legislation in accordance with sound administrative decision-making principles and taking into account risk. Appropriately briefing on sensitive issues where necessary.
• Proactively develop relationships and conduct high level negotiations with stakeholders. Represent and advocate the department's position at
interdepartmental and stakeholder meetings.
• Provide strategic and operational advice including the preparation and review of reports, briefing notes and submissions to the senior leadership and executive team.
• Utilise contemporary human resource practices and processes to build and maintain highly motivated, skilled and productive work teams.
• Undertake workforce planning to lead the delivery of client services in anticipation of changes in regional service delivery and the department's business and priorities and lead the implementation of business renewal.
• Other duties as directed and required.
