If you are passionate about igniting Qld's scientific excellence for a sustainable and innovative future, we want to hear from you!

#Acareerthatmatters. #Acontributionthatcounts.

Our purpose in the Science Development & Office of the Qld Chief Scientist branch is to ignite Qld's scientific excellence for a sustainable and innovative future. We capitalise on our solid foundation of world-class research infrastructure and talent, ensuring that our state remains at the forefront of scientific and technological advancement. We use evidence and insights and forge strong partnerships across government, with the research sector and industry to support a vibrant science ecosystem. We recognise the value of Traditional Knowledge for responding to some of our most pressing challenges and strive for meaningful and respectful engagement with First Nations people.

As a member of the Chief Scientist Coordination & Engagement (CSCE) team, your work will directly support the Qld Chief Scientist's mission to champion the importance of science for our society, economy and environment and promote Qld's leadership in scientific research, partnerships and translation. Working in CSCE as a Principal Project Officer, you will play an important role in delivering impact across Qld through supporting the Qld Chief Scientist to connect with experts to provide contemporary scientific advice to decision-makers and shape government policy; developing Qld's scientific talent across the entire STEM career pipeline; promoting Qld's amazing science capabilities and impact to the wider community; and fostering partnerships across research, industry, government and community organisations to promote innovation and discovery through collaboration. As a Principal Project Officer, you will support the Qld Chief Scientist through using your excellent written and oral communication, research and time-management skills to shape and influence key science messages, to be delivered locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally to a variety of stakeholders and the community more broadly. Variety is the name of the game and in any one day you may be crafting an inspiring and interactive talk for a class of excited school children, polishing a key note address for an international conference, researching the latest trends in cutting-edge science and profiling award winning scientists and upcoming events for our monthly newsletter.
