About the role
As our Scientist (Dairy), you will:
• Develop and conduct feeding systems research and development activities specific to dairy and dairy-beef production systems in northern Australia on research and commercial dairy farms.
• Analyse physical and financial data to provide recommendations to industry on the key factors driving resilient feeding systems in northern Australia.
• Identify relevant research and development being conducted at a State, National and International level and adapt this to suit Queensland's regional dairy farming systems using on-farm development activities.
• Provide operational support for the implementation of the DPI Dairy Research Development and Extension (RDE) strategy, taking into account relevant industry, departmental and government priorities.
• Significantly contribute to the development, implementation, evaluation and reporting of dairy RDE projects, and analyse data from research-based experiments and publish the results in scientific journals.
• Develop collaborative links and partnerships with relevant sectors of industry, external funding bodies, RDE organisations and other relevant agencies pertaining to implementation of the RDE strategy.

Mandatory qualifications
It is a mandatory requirement for a professional officer to possess an Australian Bachelor degree (AQF level 7 or equivalent) or higher in Agricultural, Animal, Applied or Rural Science from a recognised tertiary institution.
• Post graduate qualifications with a dairy background would be highly regarded.
• For international qualifications, the applicant will need their qualification assessed, to determine comparability with the Australian Qualifications Framework.
