The Psychological Services Unit serves under the Specialist Operations Branch of QCS, provides specialist support to psychological services staff operating within correctional centres through the provision of clinical and practice advice, professional development activities, and governance oversight.

LOCATION: Maryborough Correctional Centre. Opportunity exists for a psychologist to join the small but highly experienced team of Psychological Services at the Maryborough Correctional Centre.

The role provides exposure to some of the most complex and vulnerable prisoners within the Queensland Correctional system. The role will be supported by a cohesive and dedicated multidisciplinary team.

Provisional psychologists are provided AHPRA supervision on-site. Those with a keen interest in forensic and clinical practice are encouraged to apply.

The Maryborough Correctional Centre is ideally located 1.5 hours north of the Sunshine Coast on the outskirts of the historical town of Maryborough and 30 mins from Hervey Bay.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • Specialised Expertise: Proven skills in evidence-based assessment and intervention for adults facing challenges such as suicidality, mental health issues, cognitive impairments, or developmental disorders.
  • Strong Communication: Exceptional written communication abilities to produce high-quality professional reports and case notes, along with outstanding verbal skills to engage effectively with a diverse client group.
  • Legislative Knowledge: In-depth understanding of, and ability to interpret and apply, relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Commitment to Excellence: A passion for continuous learning and professional development, with a dedication to applying best practices in forensic and clinical psychology.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE:

  • Provisional or General Registration as a Psychologist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
