The Queensland Hydrology group provides expert water planning information to address community needs through scientific research, monitoring, and assessment of the State’s water resources. The purpose of the role is to provide professional leadership, manage and direct the activities associated with groundwater and surface water resources assessments and research. Provide timely and high quality technical and scientific information and advice on resource management issues relevant to the position. You’ll be required to provide professional scientific leadership on matters relevant to the position with Queensland Hydrology and across other groups within the Science Division and the Department.

Your contribution as a Principal Project Officer:
• Provide professional scientific leadership on water planning assessment and research, consistent with the Department's vision and priorities.
• Lead across-agency scientific assessment and research and monitoring projects on land and water management issues concerning water planning and the relationships to environmental flows, water quality and habitat condition; includin  issues associated with flow regulation.
• Contribute to strategic planning.
• Provide comprehensive, high quality scientific and technical information and advice to management and stakeholders.
• Liaise with and develop inter- and intra-state networks, linkages and partnerships with industry representatives, research funding agencies, educational institutions, other natural resource agencies, community groups, staff and other clients to ensure the ongoing relevance of the information and services provided.
• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.
