The Senior Policy Officer key responsibilities are:
- Identify, research, develop and analyse policy and legislation issues and work in a team to develop evidence based policy solutions.
- Prepare advice on relevant policy, legislation and systemic issues.
- Plan, implement and monitor progress of policy projects within tight timeframes to achieve outcomes.
- Liaise and consult with various other areas within the department, to identify issues and to develop practical policy and legislative solutions.
- Represent and negotiate on behalf of the team in internal policy discussions and relevant internal working groups.
- Prepare a range of written materials including briefing notes, memorandums for approval, project plans, correspondence, discussion papers and reports to a high
standard.

Role specific/technical skills:
- Experience of strategic policy and Cabinet processes is desirable.
- Experience in related fields such as women's safety, domestic, family and sexual violence related sectors, is desirable.
