Our team engages with farmers across the Great Barrier Reef catchments, ensuring that minimum practice standards are implemented to reduce the run-off of sediment and nutrients into the Reef's waters. We collaborate with industry stakeholders to encourage the voluntary uptake of better agricultural practices, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Every day presents new and diverse challenges in this role, where you'll collaborate with individuals involved in various agricultural sectors in the community. You'll be actively conducting on-site regulatory inspections at farming locations with guidance from experienced colleagues, with time in the office to consider additional information and decide on regulatory actions. With the backing of our seasoned team members, you'll hone your judgment to make autonomous decisions based on your inspections. The work you perform is integral to addressing environmental challenges associated with agricultural practices within your region.

We are in search of an individual who is fuelled by passion and determination, endowed with a knack for problem-solving and outstanding communication skills, and adept at navigation challenging dialogue to untangle complex matters. While previous experience with agricultural producers would be beneficial, it is crucial that you possess a keen understanding of the environmental impact of the agricultural industry and can quickly learn how to use the regulatory tools to address issues. Asa proactive collaborator, you should cherish the ethos of teamwork and have the capability to operate effortlessly with your peers, supervisors and the wider departmental network.

You may not have worked in a regulatory capacity previously, but you should have the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act 1994 and legislative frameworks and their implementation.
