Senior Project Officer

This position is within the Fire Services branch of QPWS&P and will assist with the spatial and system support for this group. The position will primarily support the existing fire management systems, including, but not limited to, FLAME, FireMapper and will work closely with the Principal Conservation Officer (Spatial) and QPWS.IT. The responsibilities of this role will contribute to the department’s fire management capacity and capability to effectively deliver prescribed burns, manage the risk of bushfires on QPWS&P estate and build resilience to the impacts of damaging bushfires.

The Senior Project Officer will lead system support for FLAME for the Fire Services team and will undertake User Acceptance Testing for this system. The successful candidate will have organisation and analysis skills and highly developed written communication skills to ensure communications, reports and briefs are completed in a manner that is timely and accurate and easily understood by non-technical staff and governance groups. The role will be required to effectively communication with colleagues and staff from other agencies and provide accurate and succinct advice to support to the Manager, Fire Services and other leaders and governance groups within the organisation.
The role will also interact with the Eco-System project and provide guidance to this project, based on knowledge of the existing fire systems and applications.
