QBuild has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets.

About the role:

You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by providing exceptional advice and compliance around electrical safety.  

Duties and skills involved:

  • Provide expert electrical engineering advice, services and consultancy to electrical workers, external clients, and authorities.
  • Ensure legislation, industry codes of practice, Australian Standards, documented work methods, and Material Safety Data Sheets are updated, controlled, and communicated to stakeholders.
  • Supervise the delivery of electrical construction, maintenance and upgrade work undertaken by QBuild.
  • Delivery of the responsibilities assigned to an electrical senior supervisor or electrical supervisor as detailed in the QBuild electrical safety management system.
  • Ensure application of safety management system (SMS).
  • As required, perform the role of Superintendents Representative (SR) for electrical/mechanical projects delivered by the QBuild region.
  • As required, perform the role of Qualified Technical Person (QTP) for projects delivered by the QBuild region.
  • Undertaking Workplace Health and Safety and electrical safety and workmanship audits of fieldstaff and contractors to ensure compliance with applicable standards, legislation and QBuild's Electrical Safety Management System and associated Key Performance Indicators.
  • Proactively manage the work performance and personal conduct of your staff.

Mandatory requirements:

  • Have successfully completed, or be willing to complete, the Qualified Technical Person (QTP) competencies of the Electrical Contractors Licence training and be willing to be nominated as a Qualified Technical Person (QTP) on the QBuild electrical contractors licence.
  • Current Queensland Electrical Work Licence Mechanic or Fitter/Mechanic.
  • Demonstrate experience in domestic and commercial electrical installations to a high level of compliance and workmanship.
  • Electrical trade qualification Cert 3.
  • Current Workplace Health & Safety General Safety Induction Card.
  • Current cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and low voltage rescue certificate.
  • Current, valid Queensland "C" class driver's licence or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge and compliance with current work health, safety, and environmental legislation codes of practice, including knowledge, and understanding of AS/NZ3000 (The Wiring Rules) and other Australian Electrical standards, Electrical Safety Act 2002, Electrical Safety Regulations 2013, applicable Electrical Codes of Practice and Ergon/Energex connections and metering manuals.

Please note: Travel is an integral activity for this role and will require overnight stays of up to 4 nights (or as negotiated).
