We're searching for a forward-thinking Science Leader to provide leadership for Scientific Computing, data and digital capabilities within the Science Division. As a collaborative leader, you will help to develop and mature the data and digital capabilities of the Science Division, leading the charge in scientific data, computing and digital innovations. You'll harness your expertise to discover and exploit business improvement opportunities, introducing standard practices in systems development, data wrangling, analysis, management, and sharing. By championing modern computing and data platforms, your role is pivotal in supporting the Divisions scientific programs and challenges.
You will be responsible for leading teams of data and digital experts in developing and managing a cloud (Azure) data platform, a high-performance computing platform, and supporting science applications.

Your key areas of responsibility are;
Data Platform (Azure): Lead a team of cloud data and engineering specialists to shepherd the Science Division into the new era of cloud technologies and streamlined workflows. Shape the evolution of the data platform, influencing its trajectory by engaging with key users and stakeholders.
High-performance Computing (HPC): Lead a team of HPC specialists to administer a specialist on-site HPC platform, supporting users to optimise its use within Science Division and across government. Application Development & Support: Lead a team of database and software engineers dedicated to developing and sustaining divisional science applications through ongoing continuous improvement. Collaboration & Leadership: Your strategic thinking will see you collaborate with an array of data and digital talent, from project managers and business analysts to spatial and biodiversity data experts. In this role, you will shape the future of scientific computing within the Science Division, working with governance groups, working groups and communities of practice.

Ideally you will be in Dutton Park however, consideration will be given to an alternate location subject to availability at DETSI regional offices.
