Mental Health Clinician (Psychologist Occupational Therapist)

The Mental Health Clinician (Psychologist / Occupational Therapist) is a member of a multidisciplinary team responsible for the provision of clinical services, including discipline specific assessment, case management & interventions that promote the mental health, well-being & safety of adults accommodated in correctional centres.
Occupational Therapist – looking for new graduate and experienced occupational therapists interested in working in correctional setting mental health.
Psychologists – looking for provisional & general registered psychologist interested in working in correctional setting mental health.
Successful candidates will receive comprehensive induction and orientation to the criminal justice system, on the job training and supervision and the opportunity to work on rotation in different accommodation and specialist areas of the correctional centre.

Occupational Therapists
Occupational therapists are part of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Services team responsible for the delivery of mental health assessments and interventions through individual and group engagement.
The role provides generic assessments and interventions including assessment and tailored therapeutic interventions to support health and wellbeing within a multidisciplinary context. This includes risk assessment and management and tailored psychotherapeutic interventions. OTs also provide discipline specific interventions aimed at addressing occupational deprivation experienced in correctional environments. This includes for example completing OT functional assessments and leading the delivery of sensory approaches.
This is a new role within the agency and successful applicants have the opportunity to support further development of the role's scope of practice within the correctional setting.
Psychologists
Psychologists are part of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Services team responsible for the delivery of of mental health assessments and interventions.
Psychologists are responsible for discipline specific mental health and cognitive assessments, formulation of treatment plans and delivery of therapeutic individual and group- based mental health and wellbeing interventions.
Psychologists work with individuals with a variety of issues including, active symptoms of mental illness, suicide and self-harm risk and other challenging and disruptive behaviours
The role provides opportunities for collaboration within a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, including psychologists, social workers and occupational therapists to ensure holistic care and support.
Supervision and professional development support is available for provisional psychologist completing the 5+1 internship program or completing the higher degree pathway to general registration.
