This is an opportunity to make a key contribution to progressing and modernising the approach to data and analysis in a government department.

We're interested in someone that brings both technical competence (both data infrastructure/processing and quantitative and qualitative analysis), and a drive to help people gain insight from information. You'll be part of a small team using data and analytics to paint a bigger picture, guiding a diverse department on workforce
and corporate decisions.

Here is what a typical day might look like:
- working with a dataset to cleanse and analyse, drawing on statistical/analytics techniques to identify risks and issues
- talking with team members and others in HR to share initial insights and what this may mean for planning and related decisions
- meeting with internal and external stakeholders to progressively improve data governance, processes and infrastructure
- attending a committee meeting to share the findings of a team analysis that has been prepared to guide actions being considered for a department-wide initiative
- coding a new key measure into an existing data model and feeding this through to dashboards/reports for others to self-service trend information and gain further insight
- working with another team member to show them how you undertook a particular analysis using a program, process or programming language they are less familiar with.

Our department recognises the enormous value a clean environment, innovative society and visitor economy, and vibrant culture contributes to our lives. A career with our department is what you make of it. As the saying goes, you only get out what you put in. Those of us who nurture relationships, embrace challenges and seize opportunities really do thrive here.
