The Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation is seeking a Principal Policy and Program Officer to play a pivotal role in delivering a program of social policy and program initiatives to prevent and reduce liquor and gambling harm.
With your demonstrated experience in leading projects within a social policy and/or public health context, this is your opportunity to play a lead role in contributing to the delivery of outcomes under the Queensland Government’s Gambling Harm Minimisation Plan for Queensland 2021-25.
As a Principal Policy and Program Officer you will undertake research and analysis on current and emerging issues and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to plan and implement projects and initiatives to contribute to the Queensland
Government’s broader harm prevention and reduction outcomes.

As a Principal Policy and Program Officer, you will apply your expertise in research and analysis and project management to deliver a program of social policy and program initiatives to prevent and reduce liquor and gambling harm.
You will keep abreast of current and emerging strategic issues impacting liquor and gambling harm and provide advice on opportunities and priorities to prevent and minimise harm in the community.au
You will lead or assist in project management activities relating to liquor and gambling harm prevention policies, and regulatory and non-regulatory public health interventions aligned with the government's harm minimisation policy agenda.
In this role you will also liaise a range of internal and external stakeholders, including representing the Office of Liquor and Gambling Regulation in cross-agency and multi-agency planning of liquor and gambling harm prevent and minimisation projects and programs.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Demonstrated experience in project management within a social policy program context.
- Strong research and analysis skills and capability to analyse complex information and data using logic and reasoning.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake stakeholder engagement and ability to negotiate and lead collaboration to achieve outcomes.
- Demonstrated capacity to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
- Proven track record delivering assigned workloads on time and adjusting priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
- Strong written communication skills including experience in formulating recommendations, preparing briefing notes and correspondence for the consideration of Senior Management, including the Commissioner of Liquor and Gaming and the Minister.
- Qualifications in public policy, governance, social or behavioural sciences, or public health would be well regarded.
