Queensland State Archives (QSA) connects Queenslanders with their past - the histories of families, local communities, and the state by looking after the largest documentary heritage collection in Queensland. We manage, preserve and provide public access to the collection for the use and benefit of present and future generations.

QSA has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Collection Management Archivist to undertake complex arrangement and description and related archival activities within the First Nations Strategy team.

If you can work effectively as a team member, have great attention to detail, and can demonstrate research and analysis skills, including the ability to analyse, arrange and describe archival records, we'd love to hear from you!

We are looking for a Collection Management Archivist to join the First Nations Strategy team in this exciting and rewarding role.

This role will maintain and grow the Queensland State Archives' collection and enhance discoverability by undertaking complex arrangement and description and related activities of First Nations records.

You will work in a small and dynamic team and engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

In this role you will:

  • Improve discoverability of First Nations records through metadata enhancement.
  • Perform complex research, analysis and manipulation of collection management data.
  • Apply subject matter expertise in archival collection management issues and systems.
  • Work across QSA, undertaking detailed arrangement and description activities of archival records in line with Australian Series System and institutional standards.
  • Undertake projects under the First Nations Metadata Program.
  • Develop resources, including instructional videos and guides, to support community understanding of, and access to, the collection.
  • Promote an environment of strong customer service, collaboration and teamwork to achieve quality outcomes within agreed performance measures.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of services and resources.
  • Undertake any other duties as directed by the Discovery Lead, Manager and Director.
