Compliance Support Officers in ESR support officers delivering compliance within regional locations, which includes compliance inspections and complaint and incident investigations. The teams within which Compliance Support Officers work are also responsible for environmental management of issues impacting on land, air, water and people including air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution and waste.
Compliance Support Officers work alongside Environmental Officers providing support to their team in the undertaking of these compliance and investigative responsibilities. You will support officers delivering compliance activities, including compliance inspections and complaint and incident investigations.

Compliance Support Officers (CSO) work within the Environmental Services and Regulation (ESR) division of the department. The division provides targeted, consistent and transparent regulation that facilitates sustainable development in Queensland. Regulation activities are aligned with environmental outcomes without placing unnecessary burden on industry or the community. ESR proactively manages and monitors environmental risks through a modern and innovative regulatory framework that includes assessment, compliance, investigation and enforcement programs. ESR also provides extensive frontline services both centrally and regionally.
Compliance Support Officers in ESR support officers delivering compliance within regional locations, which includes compliance inspections and complaint and incident investigations. The teams within which Compliance Support Officers work are also responsible for environmental management of issues impacting on land, air, water and people including air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution and waste. Compliance Support Officers work alongside Environmental Officers providing support to their team in the undertaking of these compliance and investigative responsibilities. You will support officers delivering compliance activities, including compliance inspections and complaint and incident investigations.
As the CSO you will:
• Support environmental officers in the organisation to implement and finalise compliance inspections.
• Assist environmental officers to undertake complaint and incident investigations.
• Assist environmental officers and managers to implement workplace health and safety processes and procedures.
• Assist in the preparation of inspection reports, complaint reports, compliance action reports, ministerial and other correspondence, briefing notes, information & statutory documents.
• Maintain equipment, electronic devices, asset registers and vehicles and respond to administration audit requirements.
• Undertake data entry into government databases.
• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.
This position requires:
• Demonstrated organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work and operate with a high level of independence and as a member of a multidisciplinary team in providing quality administrative support.
• Ability to multi-task while working autonomously and prioritise work to ensure all targets and deadlines are achieved.
• Demonstrated high-level skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and the ability to use databases to produce effective work output in terms of both quality and quantity.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with the ability to consult, communicate and problem solve with all levels of staff and the ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion and sound judgement in the absence of decision makers when liaising with external customers.
• Ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of procedures, policies, regulations and standards, which impact upon the position and includes workplace health and safety requirements.
