About the role
As a Field Officer, you will:
- Assist clients and stakeholders with advice on Queensland's vocational education and training (VET) system, including apprenticeships, traineeships, and school-to-work programs.
- Promote the benefits of training, skills development, and VET pathways to employers, schools, training organisations, and individuals.
- Help plan and deliver local training and workforce programs to increase VET participation and help people gain skills for local jobs.
- Support stakeholders by encouraging improvement, offering guidance, and building their understanding of VET.
- Provide services such as advice, conflict resolution, school/workplace visits, promoting the Queensland Training Awards, and explaining policies and programs.
- Work independently and with your team to meet goals and achieve positive results in the VET sector.
- Build good relationships with colleagues and external partners.
- Ensure high-quality service by following department procedures for teamwork, customer service, project management, and workplace safety.
- Manage your time well to meet deadlines and help your team achieve performance targets.
- Prepare reports, letters, and other documents for senior officers or the Minister.
- Strengthen the VET system in your region through stakeholder engagement and project management.

- Understanding of, or the ability to quickly learn about, Queensland's vocational education and training sector, workforce development challenges, and departmental programs.
- Experience in research, data analysis, issue investigation, project management, and making decisions that help achieve regional goals within a governance framework.
- Ability to create a positive work environment by treating everyone fairly, and providing timely, accurate, and high-quality advice to colleagues, stakeholders, and clients.
- Strong sense of responsibility for completing work on time and ensuring regional objectives are met.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to build strong relationships, resolve conflicts, and effectively engage with a wide range of individuals and organisations.
