Cultural Liaison Officer Identified

Engage and build relationships with key stakeholders, especially in the criminal justice system and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Have well developed verbal and written communication skills. Understanding of historical and contemporary issues that affect and impact Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in custody and in the community. Model appropriate attitudes in correctional environments and maintain high standards when delivering frontline services. Demonstrate strong administrative skills. Interpret and apply Legislation, policies and procedures. Communicate professionally and respectfully. Produce high-quality case notes while respecting sensitivity and confidentiality. Work in a multidisciplinary team and be able to work autonomously and in a team environment.

The essential requirements for this role are:
- Community engagement, building key stakeholder relationships and/or working with special interest groups.
- Understanding issues that impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people both historically and contemporary.
- Exposure to various cultures, community organisations and groups.
- Contribute to and work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and work with persons from a diverse range of social and cultural backgrounds.
- Experience in the delivery of training to large groups.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication and networking skills.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully.
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
- Problem solving and risk management.
- High level of personal integrity and self-motivation.
- Conflict management.
- Willing to pursue further training and career development opportunities.
- Knowledge, interpretation and application of legislation, policies and procedures.
- Ability to work in community corrections and custodial settings as required.
