The purpose of the Senior Software Developer role is to develop new software solutions as well as fixes and enhancements to existing systems as prioritised by QAS Core Systems.

Operational software support involves providing tier 3 support to the systems we maintain which encompasses general maintenance and response to major incidents.

We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:

• Demonstrates accountability for the execution and quality of results through professionalism, persistence, and transparency.
• High level analytical skills to identify trends, options and anomalies and resolve issues in dealing with complex data integration and system issues, and the demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into application and technical service deliverables.
• Highly developed communication, interpersonal, problem solving, analytical thinking, and project management skills and the ability to prepare quality technical and written documentation.
• Expert ability to gather insight and embrace new ideas and innovation to inform future practice.
• Proven ability to make considered, ethical and courageous decisions based on insight into the broader context.

The following mandatory requirements, special conditions and/or other requirements apply to this role:

• Whilst not mandatory, possession of relevant tertiary or postgraduate qualification/s in Information Technology or Computer Science will be considered highly desirable.
• Additionally, knowledge of and/or prior experience in the following areas is highly regarded:
o Developing within a Secure Software Development Lifecycle
o Message queue technologies (ActiveMQ or others)
o jQuery and JavaScript.
o Weblogic/Tomcat or other application/Web servers.
o Apache Karaf
o Business rules management systems (Drools or other)
o Project management, version control tools (Jira, Confluence).
