The Logistics Officer is a key member of the Fleet and Equipment Unit and is responsible for providing a prompt, efficient and effective supply and support service to meet the QAS requirements for inventory/stock materials, particularly in relation to operational fleet and equipment logistics services delivered to the Regions.

We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:

  • Demonstrated experience and capability in providing a high level of specialised fleet and equipment logistics support in a complex operational environment with a proven commitment to delivering high quality logistical services to clients.
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of computer-based inventory management and tracking systems, asset management systems, procurement practices in the public sector and associated policies and procedures.
  • Well developed interpersonal skills with the proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Well developed conceptual, problem solving and analytical skills including a demonstrated ability to identify, analyse and resolve issues relating to logistical systems and processes through the application of innovative solutions.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently, with limited direction, and as part of a small team, with a demonstrated high level attention to detail and the ability to plan and prioritise tasks to achieve required outcomes and meet deadlines.
  • Sound knowledge of and experience in the safe operation and maintenance of material handling equipment, and the proven ability to lift, carry and store objects in accordance with workplace health and safety legislative requirements and QAS policies and procedures.

The following mandatory requirements, special conditions and/or other requirements apply to this role:

  • Applicants are required to hold an open Queensland “C” Class Driver's Licence (for a manual motor car) prior to the closing date for applicants. Interstate and international applicants must hold an equivalent licence at the time of applying and will be expected to obtain a Queensland Driver's Licence (for a manual motor car) immediately upon appointment.
  • Applicants are required to hold a current photographic “Workplace Health and Safety High Risk Work Licence - LF” (Forklift Licence) issued by an Australian State or Territory. International applicants must hold an equivalent licence at the time of applying and will be expected to obtain a Queensland Forklift Licence immediately upon appointment.
  • Applicants may be required to hold current Queensland “Light Rigid” (LR) or “Heavy Rigid” (HR) Driver's Licences, or have the ability to rapidly acquire these licence types. Recent experience driving vehicles of this type would be considered desirable.  Interstate and international applicants without equivalent licences at the time of applying may be expected to obtain Queensland LR or HR Driver's Licences upon appointment.
  • Whilst not mandatory, a qualification equivalent to Level 2 in Procurement/Purchasing (i.e. Intermediate Procurement) would be considered highly desirable. Applicants without this accreditation will be expected to obtain this qualification immediately upon appointment.
