Marine Rescue Queensland (MRQ) is a marine rescue service dedicated to protecting the safety of the Queensland boating community. Marine Rescue Queensland, established in 2024 is Queensland’s first single integrated state-wide service, serving the state’s coastline and waterways.

You will work collaboratively with volunteers and internal and external stakeholders to deliver standardised and integrated communication and engagement strategies. Managing media, external communications, social media and marketing on behalf of MRQ, you will have a front row seat in creating effective and engaging content for our on-water community. From managing media strategies, through to community safety campaigns, your experience and skills will make a real difference to community safety.

Your key accountabilities

The core capability requirements for this role are:

• Develop, implement and evaluate integrated public affairs, marketing and communication strategies, policies and procedures
• Lead and oversee the development of a variety of marketing and communications strategies and production of advertising material, including web-based products
• Develop quality performance evaluation methodologies to assess the performance of public affairs and marketing strategies
• Provide high-level strategic public affairs, marketing and communications advice to MRQ members, including the Executive Leadership Team
• Prepare submissions, reports, briefing material and general correspondence for senior management as required.
• Maintain and develop effective communication networks with internal and external clients and stakeholders.
• Represent MRQ on committees, forums and meetings as necessary.

• Qualifications and/or experience in journalism and/or public affairs in a large geographically dispersed organisation will be considered favourably.
