We're seeking a Regional Director to take on a key leadership role in delivering the Reef Joint Field Management Program, in conjunction with Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority. This position provides strategic direction across marine and national park areas, ensuring the effective management of protected lands and waters in line with government priorities. You'll oversee key partnerships, drive regional outcomes, and help shape solutions to local and regional challenges. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, and the broader Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service.

Great Barrier Reef and Marine Parks (GBR&MP) Region are excited to share an incredible opportunity for a Regional Director to join the team through to 1 April 2026.
As one of the six regions of the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, the GBR&MP Region delivers conservation and management activities across land and sea including implementing the Reef Joint Field Management Program.
As the Regional Director, you'll lead diverse teams across a vast landscape, overseeing everything from fire and pest programs to visitor services, capital works and conservation efforts. With responsibility for strategic planning, financial oversight and program delivery, you'll drive innovation, build strong community and stakeholder partnerships, and influence policy and operational change. Role focus:
• Lead regional operations, including budget and financial management, program/project management, and staff oversight to deliver high-quality QPWS&P services.
• Develop and implement strategic and operational plans to achieve government and regional priorities.
• Oversee regional programs like pest and fire management, visitor services and capital works, ensuring compliance with legislation and statutory requirements.
• Build and maintain key stakeholder relationships and influence policy changes to improve regional operational management.
To be considered you must hold the following qualifications:
• an unrestricted manual driver's licence
