Senior Trust Compliance Officer

As a Senior Trust Compliance Officer, you’ll enforce the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment) Act 2017, ensuring subcontractors get paid what they’re owed. In this dynamic role, you’ll review project and retention trust accounts, making sure all receipts and payments are legally compliant and that trust records are accurate and transparent. You'll also carry out enforcement actions where required and support a range of compliance and monitoring activities under the Act.

This role can be performed from Brisbane or any regional location (subject to application & office avalibility).

The successful candidate will also have the option to engage in a work from home arrangement that suits the Division under an approved Flexible Work Arrangement.

Key Outcomes and Accountabilities 

  • Contribute to effective working relationships within the audit team, including encouraging continuous improvement, innovation and the adoption of best practice standards and procedures. 
  • Audit trust accounts, investigate compliance breaches and take compliance action where needed, in accordance with the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment) Act 2017.
  • Monitor compliance and make recommendations for enforcement action where needed with the trust account and other provisions of the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment) Act 2017, including reviewing independent audit reports for trust accounts.
  • Provide high quality advice to trustees, beneficiaries and QBCC staff about the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment) Act 2017 (BIF Act) and related regulations.

Candidate Attributes 

  1.  A knowledge of book-keeping concepts including excel spreadsheet (desirable).
  2.  Sound verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal skills to build good relationships with stakeholders and team members.
  3.  Demonstrated experience in investigations in a regulatory environment.
  4.  Ability in applying, interpreting and providing advice on the implementation of legislation and policy.
