SES is the primary responder for storm and flood events and provide support to other agencies through performing additional functions including search and rescue, emergency traffic management, and road crash rescue. The SES becomes involved in preparing for, and responding to, many different types of disasters and emergencies.
The role is responsible for providing support to SES groups to ensure effective preparation for and response to emergencies and disasters through the delivery of training and supporting activities to help build the capability of volunteers.

Your part in the ongoing success of the State Emergency Service, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
• Plan, prepare, deliver and review training and capability development programs for SES volunteers.
• Assist with the coordination of area and regional based capability development programs.
• Contribute to the research and development of programs supporting the operational capability of the SES.
• Assist with equipment audits across the State Emergency Service Volunteers Groups as required.
• Identify and contribute to resolution of operational capability issues.
• Process training and administrative records and maintain accurate records to provide reports on training data and information.
• Liaise with local SES units, staff and external stakeholders to develop an understanding of training needs to build SES capability.
• Undertake and support SES operational duties during emergencies and disasters as necessary which may involve intra and interstate deployments including travel to rural and remote communities, at short notice and out of business hours.
