Your key accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Contribute to development and research of operational systems and equipment for vessels and maintenance tasks.
- Manage as required, projects of a complex nature, utilising procurement skills and project management techniques to ensure objectives are met.
- Overview integration of new systems, hardware and equipment to marine fleet and shore-based facilities.
- Provide support to the Vessel Fleet Manager in the development, implementation and management of new vessel building programs, refit projects which includes establishing a high standard of governance and reporting mechanisms on project works.
- Liaise and collaborate with accredited marine surveyors to ensure continual compliance with applicable standards and regulations relevant to the QPS marine fleet.
- Contribute to the preparation of information and statistics and execution of annual plans related to procurement taskings, vessel dockings refit and engine replacement program.
- Assist with the development and monitoring of vessel Asset Management Plan, vessel Safety Management Systems, and vessel Electronic Logs software platforms ensuring compliance with legislation, standards and QPS policies and procedures.
- Supervise and develop strategies for team members to ensure legislative compliance and best practice within the marine sector, including work priorities, performance management, skills development and continuous improvement.
Role Requirements:
Mandatory:
- Current Queensland Driver License or equivalent. Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience -
- Project Management experience and comprehensive understanding of commercial vessel construction methods.
- Experience in contract administration, contract management and procurement process and policies.
- Understanding of, and ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of regulations and standards of the National Standard for Domestic Commercial Vessels.
- Technical knowledge of marine outboard engines and diesel-powered marine engines and auxiliary powered engines.
- Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal) is highly desirable.
Other:
- Must be physically fit, ability to work in irregular workspaces and engine rooms.
- The successful applicant may be required to participate in an ‘on call' roster outside of their normal working hours.
- The successful applicant may be required to travel intrastate at short notice.
