Cabinet Legislation and Liaison Officer

The Cabinet Legislation and Liaison Officer (CLLO), Cabinet and Parliamentary Services is responsible for managing and coordinating the Department’s activities related to the Cabinet, Executive Council, legislative and parliamentary functions in support of the Director-General and the current portfolio Minister for the Environment and Tourism and Minister for Science and Innovation.
Additional support is provided to the Minister for Environment, Tourism, Science & Innovation on matters relating to protected area management on Moreton Island and North Stradbroke Island.
The CLLO provides effective management and leadership to staff of Cabinet and Parliamentary Services to ensure that a high standard of support is provided to executive management and portfolio ministers

The role also provides high quality and timely advice to the Director-General, the portfolio Ministers, Ministerial staff, senior management of the department and central agencies across complex and sensitive matters, particularly those with legislative, policy and process implications.
As the Cabinet Legislation and Liaison Officer you will:
• Lead and manage all aspects of the Department's Cabinet, Legislation and Liaison function in support of Portfolio Ministers' participation in Cabinet, Governing from the regions, Executive Council, Legislative and Parliamentary systems.
• Provide expert, authoritative advice on Cabinet, Parliament, Executive Council and Legislative matters affecting the portfolio, including advice on coordination, implementation and evaluation of solutions, to support decision making by the Director-General and Portfolio Ministers.
• Develop and manage key relationships and communications with internal and external stakeholders, in support of the Director-General including Ministerial Staff and key central and line agency staff, to ensure effective liaison, consultation, coordination and resolution of issues facing the portfolio.
• Work collaboratively across all functional areas of DETSI to resolve time-critical or confidential matters by providing authoritative advice and solutions in support of achieving whole of department outcomes.
• Effectively lead and manage the business unit, in accordance with departmental policy and procedure, delegating responsibilities where appropriate and managing such delegations.
• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.
This position requires:

• Ideally you will have a record of delivering outcomes and advice within the Cabinet, Legislation and Liaison function

Qualifications:
There are no mandatory qualifications required to undertake this position, however previous experience in a CLLO role would be highly regarded.
