QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.
About the role
You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by overseeing and coordinating minor works, construction, and maintenance programs, including program development, design management, cost planning, tendering, estimating, contract administration, and new construction project management. You will also managing a team, ensuring effective project delivery, maintaining client relationships, and handling budget management and resource allocation.
Duties and skills involved:
- Ensuring the effective operational delivery of client projects and programs by managing the productivity of the program's resources, monitoring performance, and initiating remedial action as necessary.
- Maintaining sound relationships with clients and act as the interface with clients on major projects.
- Preparing and effectively managing the maintenance, minor works and construction program sales budgets in line with the Queensland Government's Capital Works Framework (CWF).
- Achieving operational objectives through effective planning and utilisation of resources, including the ability to successfully manage a commercially-oriented organisation in the Building Construction and Maintenance Industry, or similar, within the Public Sector.
- Managing, coordinating, and integrating a workforce of office and field staff involved in product development, product delivery and client liaison activities.
- Planning and resolving resourcing issues and ensuring the appropriate allocation and management of resources within each of the operational areas to achieve a consistently high level of quality in the delivery of building services and project management with budgetary, resource and time constraints.
- Managing and implementing change and creating effective working relationships through leading and developing individuals and teams.
- Proactively managing the work performance and personal conduct of your staff.
Preferred skills and experience:
- Thorough knowledge of the building and construction industry, including quality assurance, building project management and contract administration.
- Experience and knowledge in leading and managing teams and individuals
