Project Officer
Macropod Management; Permissions Management & Ecotourism; Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services & Partnerships; Charleville
Wildlife Permissions sits within the Permission Management & Ecotourism Branch of the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service & Partnerships Division (QPWS&P) and incorporates the Wildlife Permits and Macropod Management programs. The branch delivers frontline services to stakeholders by administering permits, licences and authorities for plants and animals on Queensland’s protected and non-protected areas, delivering major projects across the QPWS&P managed estate and providing strategic support for the QPWS&P compliance and enforcement program.
This position is responsible for the administration and governance associated with relevant applications for permits, licences and authorities for activities involving protected plants and animals on Queensland’s non-protected areas.

For this role, you'll need to:
• Contemporary knowledge of wildlife management issues, strategies and techniques.
• Administration and project management skills.
• Communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Research, analysis, and problem solving.
• Ability to be an effective member of the team either working autonomously or within the team environment.
• Ability to interpret and provide advice on legislation, standards, directives, policies, and procedures relating to financial administration and permit and authority administration, especially with regards to the Nature Conservation Act 1992.
• Ability to take initiative and contribute at team meetings to provide leadership and advice with regards to permit administration and governance.
• Role model individual contributor leadership behaviours as outlined in the Leadership competencies for Queensland.
• Contribute to workplace safety, equity, diversity, respect and inclusion by bringing your unique experiences and perspectives.
