QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.
About the role
Your role within QBuild will support the department to partner with Queensland Government agencies to deliver their core services, by providing state-wide planning, building, maintenance, and disaster response services that utilise local suppliers and QBuild tradespeople and apprentices. The work you will do helps someone every day, and that means the world to us.
The primary purpose of this position is to manage expert advice to QBuild leadership team and all stakeholders on QBuild system evolution and capability. The position manages a team of approximately 20 employees responsible for the system architecture and delivering the ICT agenda for QBuild. An important part of this role is to recommend and deliver strategies to provide high level service support to resolve system issues and ensure continuous systems improvements.
Key responsibilities:
- Proactively leading and managing, in consultation with the respective process owners, the evolution and currency of QBuild's business systems to ensure ongoing alignment with strategic business drivers.
- Overseeing a large team that develops new or enhanced technologies, systems and tools to enhance business effectiveness and efficiency, as well as ensuring the integration of solutions to maximise the use of existing information, infrastructure and architecture.
- Delivering and maintaining the approved and prioritised plan of continued improvement to QBuild's systems in line with prioritised business process plans.
- Resourcing and managing the service desk team that supports and analyses reported issues with operational and internally developed business system functionality and supporting technology and provide appropriate resolution of the issue.
- Providing expert advice to senior and executive leadership concerning existing and future technological solutions and their development in line with QBuild's pipeline of works.
- Building and maintaining strong networks to appropriately share information regarding best practice and emerging technologies, as well as escalate emerging issues appropriately.
- Producing required documentation and artefacts that contribute to delivering QBuild programs in alignment with applicable government projects, programs and portfolio management methodologies.
- Mentoring staff to ensure knowledge transfer, breadth of experienced resourcing and succession.
- Proactively managing the work performance and personal conduct of your staff.
