Based in Brisbane, this permanent position offers opportunities to contribute to projects focusing on water quality monitoring, analysis, and reporting, QA/QC and cutting-edge research. You'll work with a diverse team across the Catchment Water Quality Alliance (DETSI, UQ and JCU) to deliver scientific outcomes that inform policy and ultimately improve the health of the environment.
About the Role
Water Quality and Investigations (WQI) are responsible for delivering two key water quality monitoring programs: the Great Barrier Reef Catchment Loads Monitoring Program (GBRCLMP) and the South-East Queensland Catchment Loads Monitoring Program (SEQCLMP). Both programs are designed to determine loads/risk of contaminants in Queensland waterways. These programs are implemented collaboratively by Water Quality and Investigations (DETSI), the Reef Catchment Science Partnership (University of Queensland) and TropWater (James Cook University) via the Catchment Water Quality Alliance. The programs aim to deliver high-quality scientific data that informs policy and management decisions as part of the Reef Water Quality Improvement Plan and South-East Queensland Healthy Waterways initiatives. The WQI team are also involved in environmental investigations, assessments and analysis relating to pollution events, ecotoxicology, water quality and aquatic ecosystem health throughout Queensland.
