This position is responsible for coordinating prison transfer processes, with a focus on the management of prisoner movement and logistics including flights and escorts. The role is responsible for the daily / regular collation and analysis of transfer information and liaising with internal and external stakeholders and compliance with legislation and practice directives.

In this role you will:

  • Support and facilitate on time and cost-effective air transport for prisoners to attend court / medical appointments / transfers;
  • Provide expertise and technical advise relating to the air transport function;
  • Be accountable and show sound decision making in relation to transfers and logistical functions;
  • Apply innovative ideas to enhance better practices;
  • Be able to work independently whilst managing competing priorities and identify difficult or complex issues for escalation;
  • Assist with risk assessment and the application of appropriate strategies;
  • Manage expenditure and report on these matters to higher level staff involved in governance committees and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Analyse quantitative and qualitative data to inform and produce written recommendations and advice;
  • Prepare correspondence regarding air transport activities, in particular assess and provide advice to the relevant stakeholders;
  • Review current practices relating to air transport functions, including QGAir, and related practices and processes and provide recommendations and implement enhancements to current systems;
  • Review and analyse intelligence and prisoner information to make informed decisions;
  • Interpersonal skills for negotiating with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, who often have competing interests, on sensitive and complex issues;
  • Demonstrated communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills for liaising with management and staff at all levels, to gain commitments and negotiate service delivery, priorities, deadlines, resources and other relevant issues.
