Correctional centres are responsible for the delivery of custodial services across Queensland. People in custody are supervised in either high or low security correctional centres. High security centres provide for the management of adult prisoners held in secure custody correctional centres across Queensland.

The role of the Industries Supervisor is to co-ordinate, control, develop and manage the operations of the Centre Industry areas to ensure revenue generation and costeffective operation, whilst maximizing employment and training opportunities for offenders. The position also ensures the secure management of offenders within the area.

The essential requirements for this role are:

  • Previous experience in relevant trade (Carpentry and Joinery, Engineering related discipline ie Boilermaker or Sheetmetal, Horticulture or Chef)
  • Experience in leading with the ability to motivate and encourage others to meet the challenges of demanding work roles
  • Experience and understanding of case management in a human services field
  • Experience in managing resources
  • Problem solving
  • Networking skills
  • Risk management
  • Case management skills
  • Conflict resolution
  • Computer and keyboard skills
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to liaise with people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds

Qualifications, professional registration, conditions and other requirements

  • Must already be an accredited Custodial Correctional Officer and possess a current Certificate III in Correctional Practices.
  • Certificate IV in Correctional Practice is a prerequisite for appointment to the role of Correctional Supervisor.
