Applications are sought to relieve as Assistant Principal Compliance Officer in the Office of Fair Trading’s Investigations and Enforcement Division. The Marketplace Investigations Unit is responsible for monitoring Queensland businesses that are in trade or commerce, to ensure a safe and fair marketplace.

The unit achieves this goal by educating consumers, traders and organisations about their rights and responsibilities under fair trading legislation, identifying and investigating potential breaches of legislation and taking prosecution and other enforcement action where appropriate.

Operating as part of the Marketplace Investigations Unit, you will:

• Supervise the operations of Senior Compliance Officers to ensure performance objectives are achieved.
• Ensure that Senior Compliance Officers conduct efficient and effective investigations of consumer legislation, including the conduct of complex financial
investigations involving breaches of the Agents Financial Administration Act 2014 and the Australian Consumer Law;
• Manage, review and report on the investigation and resolution of significant and/or sensitive complaints.
• Supervise prosecutions, tribunal disciplinary proceedings, and other enforcement activities.
• Implement state-wide compliance strategies.
• Report against operational / business plans to ensure reliable delivery of compliance activities and investigations and to highlight issues of current and
emerging significance.
• Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders, including counsel, other government agencies, the business sector, and consumers, to achieve meaningful outcomes.

The successful applicant will be required to undergo an investigation that satisfies the Executive Director that they are of good repute. For candidates with previous public sector employment, including the Queensland Police Service, this will include obtaining disciplinary information from the relevant employers and the Crime and Corruption Commission.

A ‘C' class current Queensland driver's license is required. Possession of a qualification under the Australian Qualifications Framework in Investigations, or
equivalent, would be highly regarded.
