There is a great opportunity for a Principal Ranger to join the Coastal Tropics team of Queensland Parks and Wildlife & Partnerships (QPWS&P), which will be responsible for managing of the coastal regional teams from Ingham to and including Cairns. This role collaborates with local First Nations people and involves an array of client interaction with stakeholders, neighbours, other government departments, and the local government. No two days will be the identical because Ranger bases in Ingham, Cardwell, Innisfail, and Cairns are home to brilliant and unique teams. The Principal Ranger AO7 is a role in which you must be able to:
- Develop and implement business and operational plans for the effective management of the QPWS estate.
- Ensure Regional plans support QPWS&P strategic outcomes and provide feedback and input into operational policies and procedures.
- Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team, many of whom may be geographically dispersed across the region.
- Liaise and negotiate where appropriate with other agency units to ensure activities and functions are in accordance with QPWS policies and processes.
- Manage the logistics of providing operational support and resources across a geographically dispersed area.
- Ensure the accurate and timely input of information into divisional and regional reporting systems and provide advice to the Regional Director.
- Build and sustain working relationships and consultative processes with internal and external stakeholders including members of the community, Indigenous peoples, special interest groups, other government agencies (local, state and federal) and industries.
- Lead and participate in committees, boards and at other meetings relevant to the agency, divisional and regional business.
- Provide precise and effective financial administration.
- Report on program activities and operational plan progress and outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with legislative obligations and statutory requirements.
- Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.
