The focus of the Senior Ranger (Mulgalands) position is planning and prioritising operational program delivery within the Mulgalands Management Unit. The Senior Ranger position supervises 10 staff managing approximately 574,000 hectares of parks and forests in the channel country of southwest Queensland, including Currawinya National Park (344,000 ha), one of Queensland’s largest and iconic parks

The successful applicant will oversee park management programs, prepare correspondence such as briefing notes, report on programs and budgets, and oversee the preparation and management of contracts. Excellent communication and team skills are a requirement of this position, including the ability to liaise with a wide range of internal and external clients including First Nations groups, to ensure operational programs are successfully implemented.

The Ideal Candidate:
· Displays a keen interest in protected area management
· coordinating and leading prescribed burning, fuel reduction and wildfire response
· Exhibits strong organisational skills and the capacity to handle multiple tasks with precision.
· Ability to support and share skills with a diverse group of people
· Ability to lead and inspire others
