Community Corrections is responsible for supervising adult offenders in the community. Community Corrections is divided into seven regions each with a number of district offices and reporting centres. Community Corrections staff aim to protect the community and reduce re-offending by supervising offenders in the community in which they live and encourage offenders to adopt more pro-social attitudes and behaviours.

The Senior Case Manager is based in a district office/reporting centre and reports to the District Manager. The position ensures a high level of community safety through the case management of adults subject to orders within the community. The position acts in accordance with assessed risk and need and maintains high standards of assessment practices that facilitate effective supervision, and improved reintegration and rehabilitation of individuals subject to community-based orders.
The position is responsible for consulting with relevant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations to assist in closing the gap of Indigenous over-representation within the criminal justice system. The position will also support the management team in the region by acting as coach and mentor to team members undertaking probation and parole case management.
The essential requirements for this role are:
- Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills for liaising with management, staff and internal and external stakeholders at all levels, to gain commitments and negotiate service delivery, priorities, deadlines, resources and other relevant issues
- Able to work self-sufficiently and to cope with the pace, complexity and multi-tasking required in the operating environment.
- Able to demonstrate experience working within a legislative framework that underpins a core service delivery area.
- Ability to build and manage ongoing working relationships with a range of stakeholders
- Interpersonal skills for negotiating with key stakeholders, who often have competing interests, on sensitive and complex issues.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills
Qualifications, professional registration, conditions and other requirements
- As this position will require travel and work across various locations possession of a driver's licence, minimum C class Australian licence is a mandatory requirement.
- Individuals employed on a permanent or temporary basis will be required to complete Certificate IV in Correctional Practice (Community). All activities and assessments associated with the Certificate IV are to be completed within 12 months of commencing their employment, and certification achieved within 18 months.
