As Senior Advisor (Test Automation), you will be responsible for planning, executing and maintaining test automation and technical test artefacts. You will be a quality advocate, supporting TMR's risk and requirements-based testing principles and guiding teams to embed quality outcomes into ICT solutions

Working in the platform team, you will have exposure to cloud AWS, Github, Karate Framework, AccelQ and ReadyAPI. You will use these tools to verify and validate the platforms operations and hosted REST based APIs.

The Application Management team within the Information Technology Branch (ITB) are specialists who deliver high-quality IT solutions to internal customers.

Are you passionate about quality assurance and test automation? Do you thrive on driving innovation and embedding quality into ICT solutions? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) as a Senior Advisor (Test Automation).

In this role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and maintaining test automation and technical test artefacts, while acting as a quality advocate across teams. You will guide teams to deliver exceptional quality outcomes, ensuring TMR's risk and requirements-based testing principles are upheld.

Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing manual and automated testing solutions, including test scripts, frameworks, and methodologies.
You will leverage tools and practices to create reusable test artefacts, test data, and environments to support continuous integration (CI) pipelines and testing activities. You will champion TMR's Test Policy and Strategy, guiding teams to exceed customer quality expectations through peer reviews and quality assurance activities aligned with TMR testing practices.

Using a data-driven approach, you will identify quality improvement opportunities, reduce rework, and present findings to diverse stakeholders. Collaboration and communication will be key as you work with teams to achieve quality outcomes, provide coaching and mentoring to testers and team members, and foster a culture of quality throughout the software development lifecycle. You will also develop a deep understanding of the domains in scope, collaborate on testable requirements, and demonstrate the benefits of quality-driven solutions.

What We're Looking For
To excel in this role, you'll need:
• A diploma/degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience) would be advantageous.
• International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB®) certifications such as Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL), Technical Test Analyst (CTAL-TTA), or
Test Automation Engineer (CTAL-TAE).
• Hands-on experience with testing tools like Selenium, Python, Robot & Karate Frameworks, AccelQ, and ReadyAPI.
• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), DevOps pipelines, and automated testing for cloud services deployments (CI/CD/CT).
