As Senior Program Officer (AO6) in the Legal Assistance Strategy and Funding team, you will play a critical role in designing, managing and implementing key funding programs that provide free or low-cost legal support to vulnerable individuals.
This role requires a high level of strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement, and strong contract and governance oversight skills. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to align service delivery with policy and legislative frameworks, ensuring value for money and effective risk management.
Your expertise will contribute to high-impact funding decisions, while supporting innovative, sustainable legal assistance programs that make a real difference in the lives of Queenslanders.
You will be:
- Leading or contributing to complex legal assistance funding contracts from procurement through to delivery.
- Developing contract management, procurement and governance processes to improve efficiency and mitigate risk.
- Consulting with government agencies and the legal assistance sector to shape effective service options.
- Collaborating with departmental and cross-government stakeholders to implement legal assistance program initiatives.
- Undertaking research and analysis to provide sound advice to senior decisionmakers.
- Preparing high-quality written materials including executive briefs, cabinet submissions and policy papers.
- Supporting awareness and communication activities to promote legal assistance programs.
- Monitoring and reviewing programs to support continuous improvement and accountability.
