Join our Planning Services team as a key strategic and operational leader. You'll support a team of 20 and co-lead the implementation of a state-wide business model. Represent the department in planning and development matters, contributing to sustainable resource management across Queensland. This role plays a vital part in planning scheme, environmental impact assessments, regional planning, and major project reviews. You'll also guide place naming and locality boundary amendments.

To succeed in this role, you will be a confident leader who can coordinate the delivery of diverse natural resource management services while providing specialist advice and assessment across a broad range of planning and development matters.

You will bring expert knowledge of Queensland's Planning framework, including planning scheme, major projects, environmental impact assessments, and regional planning instruments, ensuring natural resource considerations are embedded in decision-making.

This role requires sound judgement and the ability to influence, delivering timely and strategic advice on land use and resource management to support departmental and government objectives. You will contribute significantly to major government initiatives, and be responsible for producing high-quality reports, briefings and presentations for senior executives. You'll foster a high-performance culture that values individual contributions, supports team development, and meets high service delivery standards. You will also supervise the Planning Support Enquiries Hub, uphold the Queensland Public Service Code of Conduct, and ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.

What we're looking for:
• A university degree from a recognised tertiary institution or overseas qualification Natural Resource Management, Land/Regional/Urban Planning, Environmental or Earth Sciences would be highly desirable.
• Experience with the Planning Act 2016, State Development and Public Works Organisation Act 1971, Environmental Protection Act 1994 and Place Names Act 1994 or other related natural resource management legislation would be highly regarded.
• Travel away from the centre may be required. This may involve travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation for extended periods.
